The University’s historical roots can be traced back to 1950, when the Riga Medical Institute was established. It is now the leading higher education institution in medicine in Latvia. It has over 6,000 students, 367 academic staff and 11 different faculties. The University has over 300 international students, including Germans, Swedes and Norwegians. The number of Spanish students increases every year. Ranked among the top 25 universities in Europe.
