Opinion at Lithuanian University of Health Sciences

Year: Postgraduate 2008

There is no doubt that hundreds of questions spring to mind when trying to choose your university. How can I be sure I am choosing the best option? What should I take into account when making my decision? Where will I live?

Having graduated from Kaunas University of Medicine (on 1st September 2010 the university changed its name to Lithuanian University of Health Sciences), I would like to take this opportunity to share my experience with all those who are thinking of applying to LUHS.

Ever since I finished high school my dream was to study Medicine in the United States, given its reputation as the leading country in this field. However, given that the entrance examinations in the United States are very competitive, I started to look for an alternative medical school that would allow me to do my residency in the USA. After a lot of research, I decided to choose LUHS and I think I have been incredibly lucky. Why? This medical school provides you with the necessary skills and knowledge thanks to its excellent facilities and services. The degree programme is very flexible, which is a huge plus for students. This university has provided me with the training, clinical skills and experience needed to believe in myself and be confident when dealing with patients.

Whether you live on or off campus, it only takes a few minutes to get to your classes thanks to the city’s good transport system and the excellent location of the university.

The best part of the experience was the social life. I met people from all over the world who had decided to come and study at the same university. This gave me the opportunity to get to know a lot of different traditions and cultures.

My dream has finally come true thanks to LUHS. I achieved my goal of being accepted onto a residency programme in the United States. This means that I, a medical student from LUHS, managed to pass the difficult United States medical examinations with good grades.

It is important to remember that, with hard work and perseverance, you can achieve what you are looking for. And, once you achieve it, you will have the potential to do the job well. In short, LUHS has enabled me to grow both as a person and as a professional.
