Studying dentistry at the Charles University Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Kralove means: laying the foundation for a successful career at one of the best European universities. The Dentistry Degree Program
The medical faculty in Hradec Kralove was established in 1945. Since 1992, it offers the English-language medicine and dentistry degree programs. Studying dentistry at the Charles University Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Kralove will take 5 years all in all and is fully adapted to the needs of up to date future dentists. Beyond that, these studies are recognized in Europe, the USA and 30 other countries! Studying dentistry at the university is especially characterized by a very early practical relevance – students are already beginning to work in preclinical activities in a phantom laboratory in the first semester. In order to further develop the practical skills, all students have to spend several weeks during the 4th and 5th academic year in a dental practice. At the end of studies, the graduates will obtain the academic title “MD Dr.” = Medicinae Dentium Doctor and are therefore entitled to open their own dental office.
Internationalization
The faculty has many international cooperation partners. The most important cooperation is a partnership with the renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester in the USA. The partnership already exists since 22 years, so that during this time, 78 students in their basic studies, 22 PhD students and 6 academic employees have spent the summer at the university. All in all, the university has 35 bilateral cooperations in 17 countries. During the last years of the degree program, the best students get the opportunity to gain experience at mainly German clinics, due to a cooperation agreement.
University Clinic
The university clinic for medicine and dentistry has 1.500 beds and 4.800 employees, 800 of them physicians, all in all. The hospital is one of the biggest and most modern health care institutions within the Czech Republic. Each year, more than 41.000 in-patients and more than 700.000 out-patients are treated there. With altogether 37 departments, 22 of them in-patient departments, it is possible to offer an especially broad range of healthcare. The hospital has, beyond that, a very close scientific relationship to the medical faculty.
